Q&A: UMPC Emulator?

This is a question received by Intel(R) Software Network Support, along with the response supplied by one of our experts at Intel:

Q.  Is there an Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC) simulator available?

A.  Microsoft offers a UMPC display emulator through their Windows Vista* Developer Center.  The direct download link is here.

Re: Q&A: UMPC Emulator?

hi,

Thanks for this info, ms umpc display emulator is easy to use, simply intercepts all of win32 functions.

More about ms umpc is detours, detours is a library for instrumenting arbitrary win32 functions on x86, x64, and IA64 machines. Detours intercepts win32 functions by re-writing the in-memory code for target functions. the detours package also contains utilities to attach arbitrary dll and data segments (called payloads) to any win32 binary.

Re: UMPC Emulator?

Intel just released a tool to help developers determine how portable software applications are to the varied UMPC devices. Please go to learn the tool information and get start at http://softwarecommunity.intel.com/articles/eng/1399.htm

Re: Q&A: UMPC Emulator?

It appears this tool is no longer available.  I'm actually interested in a device emulator on Linux for MIDs.  Can you point me to where I might find this?

Re: Q&A: UMPC Emulator?

I double checked the links in this thread today and found them to all be available.  Can you be more specific, pgoodall?  Which tool couldn't you find?
